Frequently Asked Question
Word Testing
Plato V10.x software is tested with the current Microsoft Word release, plus prior Word versions that still qualify for Mainstream Microsoft Support. Therefore:
- Office 2021 / Office 365
- Office 2019
Office 2016: Mainstream support ended October 2020.
Plato testing uses the current .docx and .dotm formats introduced with Word 2007. Deprecated formats like .doc and .dot theoretically should still work using Word Compatibility Mode, but these older formats do have disadvantages on versions of Word after 2007. E.g. custom toolbars and menus in .dot files are bundled inconveniently under the Fluent Toolbar's Add-Ins tab, and intermittent instability is reported using .dot files in Word 2016.
Upgrade V8 Entry Forms
If you still have older .doc or .dot files: V10.2.60 introduced a new automated Document Upgrade feature. Under Electronic Health Record in Plato Admin:
Rather than upgrading all your Entry forms manually, use this feature to automatically convert all of your Entry forms from .doc to .docx format, using .dotm rather than .dot templates. Also review installation documentation for .dotm Word template placement.
Signed VBA Project
Plato's .dotm Word template files contain VBA Projects signed for Plato Health Systems Ltd. Therefore, using these templates and adding Plato as a trusted publisher allows the more secure "Disable all macros except digitally signed" option in Office Trust Center.
